Welcoming Session Two to Providence

Today we met up with the Brown Session Two students who are here for two weeks to take the Women in Leadership course.  Both groups met up for dinner at Mills Tavern to have dinner with our chaperones, Ms. Kronenburg, and Mr. Ramsey.

We entered into the dimly lit restraunt and sat down in a private room.  There were 16 people in all so we were all close together and getting to know each other.  I was excited for them because I know what Brown is like and what an amazing experience it was.  I met friends, learned new things, grew as an individual, and gained more confidence.

I knew that they would have a great time and wanted them to see it for themselves.  I told them to take every oppertunity to have fun and work their butts off because it will be great and they won't want to leave.

I also talked to them about how it became my home.  It wasn't just a bed and a desk it was a community that I felt a part of.  I felt like I had friends and people who wants to learn around me.  I had the feeling that they thought, "there is no way I am going to call that place my home!". Well, neither did I, but I will talk to my mom about walking home from class instead of sayin that I al walking to my dorms.  I can not wait to hear from them when they have been through the program and how it changed their lives like it changed mine.

  1. Megan,

I'm glad that you were able to give the newbies some advice. Now we'll see if they heed it.
