Make a List and Checking it Twice

Being a very organized person, I thought that I would be extremely prepared with everything that I would need for my trip back East. I had made a list of the things that I wanted to pack two weeks before I would leave. I packed for the trip a week before I would go and then repacked for the actual trip. I was very prepared and felt confident that I had everything that I needed, except for the things that I knew I would buy once I got here.

I had packed all my cloths, bathroom supplies, and electronic devices.  All I needed were some towels and a blanket. I would quickly figure out that the blanket was not necessary for the weather that we are experiencing back East. I would not have packed anything extra but I would suggest that you be ready to buy a shower caddie and a fan. Be prepared to get in line to rent a fan or wait five days for the Brown Bookstore to lower their prices. Overall the bookstore has good prices and everything that you might need during your stay at Brown.

I didn’t think that I would need to have a pencil but I found that it was more convenient to write in my textbook with pencil instead of pen. I had not brought any pencils and only pens that smudged when I wrote with it in the book, so I went to the Brown Bookstore and I got a pencil, a shower caddie, an ID holder, and some souvenirs. As long as you are organized with your packing you will have all the necessary things you need for the trip.

When it comes to the tips of clothing that you need to pack you will not need pants, jackets, or anything you wear in the winter. It is really humid and hot here so shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, and flip-flops. There have been thunder and lightning storms twice so bring an umbrella or a rain jacket. Even though it is raining doesn’t mean that it will cool down.

In terms of the money I would say a max of 500 dollars and a minimum of 200. I brought 300 dollars through my debit card and 100 dollars in cash just in case the store or restaurant did not take my debit card. Providence has a mall that has some really good stores so if you want to go shopping then bring a little extra. Plus there are no taxes on clothing, except for the really expensive ones.

As long as you are prepared and make a list and check it twice you should be fine.

  1. Megan,

This blog may be the most important one written so far--especially for the Brown-II group who will join you next week.

We try to learn as we go so it's important to learn from all of you about the little things such as what you've written today.

I'm going top make sure that our Brown-II team all see this blog and take heed. Thanks so much for sharing.

  3. You might also want to bring an alarm clock. It is hard to wake up early every morning and I always need my alarm to jump start me. Also, don't go overboard with the shopping because you might go over the weight limit on Southwest. Just make sure you have everything weighed out and balanced.

In addition, you should bring a small fan or rent one because it is HOT (muy caliente) here. Bring some towels too.

  5. Also, maybe and extra sheet just in case you like to have something to cover yourself when you sleep.
