Jardiniere and the Brown Experience

This is my first and incredibly belated blog entry.
There has been a whirlwind of events since my acceptance into the ILC program and the creation of this blog, and between my internet-challenged self and everything I've had to do, I simply haven't had the chance to blog at all, but now, I am speaking up. Finally.

I have a feeling this ILC program is going to be one of the best things that happens to me in my high school life. I can't put into words how I felt when Ms. O'Brien approached me about this program. I spent hours on my essay, drawing inspiration from the women who changed my life the most, which was only appropriate, as I was applying for the Women and Leadership program at Brown.

The day I was accepted, I was ecstatic. I would be spending the middle of my summer, after a life-altering trip to Peru, in one of the most prestigious universities in the world. Needless to say, out of all the Ivy Leagues, Brown was always the one I felt most connected to.

And on Thursday night, I had the opportunity to meet with some of the people who made this program a reality at Jardiniere's. It was a wonderful dinner, and I was happy to sit with some amazing people.

I met a few amazing girls who I would be spending the summer with, at the same program I was attending. One girl, Guadalupe Morales, who gave me permission to call her Lupe, had a lot in common with me, including some of our dream colleges. My mother and I also had an amazing conversation with Antonio Medrano, a school board member who shared a passion for languages with me.

The dinner only solidified what I already knew- that this summer's program at Brown is the place for me, and I can't wait to go.

  1. We are glad that you coming aboard. We want you to thrive and be a beneficiary of our hard work. We always stress that those who "buy into" the Ivy League Connection program will come out a thousand times better than when they entered the program. Everyone associated with this project work incredibly hard at making it a success. Moreover, everyone connected to the program is very smart, knowledgeable and committed. We want the same from our students.

This is not some side activity. People have to immerse themselves into our philosophy and life style. We want the best for you and believe that you have the talents and gifts to soar to the top. Please read the comments from Ivy League Connection past participants. Their comments on the blogs will open your eyes to what awaits you in the future.

I strongly recommend that you read what Yohanna Pepa, going to Yale, Matt Arciniega, going to Columbia, Stephanie Ny, going to Northwestern, and Cynthia Fong, going to Brown, had to say on this very web site. It is powerful and hopefully you will speak with them about what the ILC did for them and their lives.

    Hope all else is well.

    Take care.
