The Feeling of Certainty

First of all I would like to extend my thanks to all of the WCCUSD Board Members and to the Superintendent for approving the trip to Brown University for the Summer of 2010. This trip is so meaningful for me because of the new experiences it will allow me to have and the ability to share it with the members of my community.

I feel so excited and I anticipate the day we will get on the plane on our way to Providence. At first the fact that I was going on this trip seemed so unreal to me, but now I know with much certainty that I am going, that this summer I will be at one of the most prestigious schools in the country and that I will be taking a class there and this would not be possible without the ILC. I feel like I am going to take picture after picture once I get there so that everyone can see what we all are going to experience.

Furthermore, I would like to comment on the session with Sue Kim that we had the past Friday at Pinole Valley High. I feel that it was very helpful and it has made me consider the benefits that small colleges do have to offer and the need to be careful with what we do from now on. I feel that with Sue Kim's help the whole process of applying to college is going to be much more comfortable for many of us and I thank her and the ILC for this.

I can sincerely say that in my perspective the ILC is an organization that really makes an impact in the lives of students in the WCCUSD and it would not be possible if it were not for Don, Mr. Ramsey, Ms. Kronenberg, and everyone else who forms part of it. Thank you all for all your hard work and for making this trip a reality for all of us.

Hope to see everyone at the upcoming dinner this week!

  1. A good post. I see that you are growing from being part of this program. Your insight is correct and your instricts are good. Our program provides each student with additional opportunities that are not given to most students in the district. You have earned the right to be in this program and to reap its benefits.

See, hard work pays huge dividends. Remember this in your life. Also be open to the myriad options that can make a difference in your life. People in our community place people in boxes and fail to notify students that we live in a big country. Nothing wrong with UC Berkeley or Stanford, but the USA has so much more to offer.

Selene, I see that you process and digest all things around you and I can tell that you are assessing what you see and it is clear that you feel that the ILC is making an impact on you and your family.

Please note that we want to hear from your mother and learn how she felt the meeting went with Sue Kim. Your mother or father must continue to engage in this journey. The Ivy League Connection has decided that parent participation is mandatory and that any decision has to be made knowing that the parent is informed and understands why you want to attend a particular college.

Hope that you are doing well and I look forward to seeing you on Thursday. Thanks again for a very good post.

    Take care.
